This is one of a series of plein-air paintings from Battersea Park in the summer of 2024. They mark a turning point for Maddy's development and confidence in painting landscapes with slightly more abstraction.
 
The central fountain, however, remains quite literal - showing off Maddy's skills with rendering three dimensional form with careful gradation between light and shadow. That being said, the flowers, greenery, and water remain loose and splashy. Maddy particularly likes the lily pads.
